Every community has its leaders, those special people who believe one person can make a difference, and who go to exceptional lengths to make a difference themselves. No one knows that better than United Way. The Uwharrie Society was founded by a small group of these special people, already committed United Way donors themselves, they came together in 1994 to launch The Uwharrie Society. They saw an opportunity for donors to take a more active role in strengthening the community through Leadership Giving.
United Way of Randolph County’s Leadership Giving is led and supported by Uwharrie Society and Alexis de Tocqueville Society members, who come from all corners of Randolph County and represent every segment of our business, professional, and retiree populations. These treasured donors are men and women of strength and conviction who share a belief in helping others by investing in their community. We are proud to recognize our generous 2020 Uwharrie Society and Alexis de Tocqueville Society members and say “Thank You” for providing hope and opportunity for more than 67,000 people receiving United Way funded services each year.
